Sonata for clarinet & piano 1978
Jack Brymer and David Lloyd, Cardiff University
Jack Brymer made light of the difficulties to be found in this newly-commissioned piece, a rewarding Sonata for Clarinet and Piano by Richard Elfyn Jones which contains, among other pleasures, a beautifully expressive slow movement. SOUTH WALES ECHO
The most personal writing is in the genuinely elegiac slow movement, which elegantly produces a foil to the vibrant chatter of the outer movements.
It’s a really good work. It should get a large number of performances.
